 - Flameless Candles
Elderly individuals want to have a home that is comfortable and inviting just as much as everyone else. However, it may make you uneasy to think of your parents or grandparents using candles. In the blink of an eye they can burn someone or a huge blazing fire can be unleashed. For elderly individuals that aren’t very mobile it can be a very serious concern. Many elderly people enjoy retirement and being able to take a nap in the middle of the day. You don’t want to have anxiety about them leaving candles on. You can encourage them to replace those candles with flameless candles. In fact, you can even buy them and put them in place for them. Once they see with their own eyes the great benefits offered, they won’t care that they don’t have real candles around anymore. Sometimes the idea of change is what is hard for some elderly individuals to consider. Yet once they realize how it can be a benefit to them it is worthwhile and accepted by them. Don’t make elderly individuals feel singled out either. You can inform them that the entire family is changing to flameless candles. Let them know that due to the safety risks and environmental concerns of traditional candles it is best to go with what offers the same benefits but non of the risk. For elderly people with health problems, that use oxygen, or that are highly sensitive to smoke real candles can be a detriment to their well being. Flameless candles don’t get hot, they don’t release smoke, and they aren’t a risk to use around oxygen. Knowing that the elderly individuals you care about aren’t at risk is something that can make you feel very good. Due to the safety measures and easy of use, flameless candles are usually acceptable in a nursing home or assisted living facility as well. Being able to offer those items to the environment they now call home can help them to adjust to the change from their own home. It can also give you a great gift idea to bring along for them when you visit. Flameless candles continue to offer lots of benefits, not just to the elderly but for people of all ages. Eliminate the risk of being burned, of fires, and of forgetting to blow them out before you leave your house. Being responsible with candles starts with only using flameless candles.
